Brenden Aaronson is ready to embrace a second chance at Leeds, with the USMNT star set to join the Whites’ Premier League promotion push in 2024-25.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  The United States international made his way to England in the summer of 2023 when completing a £25 million ($32m) transfer to Elland Road – with fellow countryman Jesse Marsch putting that deal in place. Aaronson struggled to produce his best for Leeds, registering just one goal and three assists.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  When relegation out of the Premier League was confirmed, Aaronson triggered a clause in his contract and returned to Germany for a loan spell at Union Berlin. That did not play out as planned either, with 14 starts taken in for a side that narrowly avoided slipping out of the Bundesliga.

  With a spark needing to be found from somewhere, on the back of Copa America duty with his country, the reports that Aaronson will return to Leeds. He is said to have held talks with Whites boss Daniel Farke, which went positively, and intends to make the most of a clean slate in West Yorkshire.

  Aaronson reportedly had the option of remaining in Berlin, while interest has also been shown in the 23-year-old playmaker from elsewhere, but he wants to help Leeds back into the big time and could prove to be a useful asset for Farke in the Championship.
