Matty Longstaff opened the scoring on six minutes before Bernardeschi's first and a goal from Prince Owusu saw the hosts go 3-0 up before the 20-minute mark. THE BIGGER PICTURE
Toronto FC's win saw them end Montreal's seven-game winning streak and meant they were able to return to winning ways themselves after consecutive defeats to Nashville SC and New York City FC. Herdman, who returned from a suspension after a melee following the NYCFC defeat, saw his side move up to fifth place in the MLS Eastern Conference, while Montreal are 13th, five points off the bottom of the league.

WHAT NEXT FOR TORONTO FC AND MONTREAL?
The MLS season is reaching the halfway point, with Montreal needing to find some form if they are to avoid dropping out of the playoff race. Next up for Laurent Courtois' side is a Canadian Championship quarter-final against Forge on Thursday, before they return to MLS action at home to Nashville on Sunday.
Toronto, meanwhile will be hoping to build on Saturday's thumping victory when they face a Canadian Championship quarter-final of their own against Saint-Laurent before hosting Cincinnati on Sunday.
